Phonemic Awareness

What is phonemic awareness?  It is simple.  There are 26 letters in the English alphabet.  But, there are 44 or more different sounds in the English language!  There are also many ways to spell each sound!  Of course, there are many exceptions!  Anyway, the symbols to the left represent each sound in English.  Click on a symbol to hear the sound and hear examples.  Take a vocabulary/spelling quiz for each sound!   Know the sounds!  Know the words!  Become a skilled reader!  Become aware of the phonemes!
